Multiplier Event By EFG – 25 September 2024, 16:00

Introduction:
The 5th Multiplier Event “Training pupils on geosciences through Virtual Field Trips” was organized in September 2024 by the European Federation of Geologists. The event was divided into two parts with welcome Speeches from David Govoni – EFG President and Dr. Konstantinos Laskaridis – Project
Coordinator, Director of Mineral Resources and Prospecting Department of H.S.G.M.E.
It was held online with:
- 190 registration tickets
- 126 participants
- 7 Q&A questions asked
Part 1:
Part 1 took place on Wednesday 25 September 2024 at 16:00 CEST.
In this session, moderated by Maria Tzima there were two (2) main presentations:
- “Integration of Augmented Reality Technologies in the Geosciences: the example of TRiPGiFT’s educational AR apps” by Mrs. ANNA-MARIA GALANI / ASPETE.
- “Virtual reality environment for STEAM-integrated scenarios on geosciences.” by Mrs. IOANNA THEOPHILOU / University of Cyprus.
Part 2:
Part 2 took place on Wednesday 25 September 2024 at 17:25 CEST.
In this session, moderated by Maria Tzima and Kiki Makri a round table discussion with educators took place with the following questions / topics:
- Do you believe that AR and VR can be integrated into the teaching philosophy of Geosciences in schools? Any examples from your experience?
- Which scenario was most interesting to you, and which do you think will capture the students’ interest? Do you believe that the proposed digital material is considered to be easy for students to use?
- How do you believe this application would facilitate student learning in the classroom when used through a tablet or a mobile phone?
- What are the expected benefits (impact) of using the Virtual Field Trip for Geoscience teaching?

Multiplier Event By ASPETE – 30 May 2024, 19:00
ASPETE from Athens Greece, hosted an online multiplier event on May 30th 2024, at 7:00 PM, to present the latest advancements in the Erasmus+ TRiPGiFT project. The event highlighted the development of cutting-edge technological tools designed to revolutionize geoscience education.
A key focus was on the demonstration of Augmented Reality (AR) apps created by ASPETE and Virtual Reality (VR) experiences developed by the University of Cyprus (UCY). These immersive technologies bring to life three educational scenarios developed by project partners: EAGME’s Penteli, NKUA’s Samaria, and NOA’s Thunder.
Participants gained valuable insights into the project’s methodology, explored the potential of new technologies in education, and witnessed firsthand how these innovative tools can enhance learning experiences. The event also featured presentations from all partners, showcasing their contributions to the project into the development of the three VFTs.
Through initiatives like this, the TRiPGiFT project continues to push the boundaries of educational technology and inspire the next generation of geoscientists.
